I became a Christ follower at age 14 as a result of the youth ministry in my church. As a college student, I grew spiritually as I studied the Bible and hung around with other believing students. Cindy, my wife and best friend for the past 37 years, was one of them. We have two adult married children and one amazing granddaughter.
Our family has been a part of Park Springs since 1983, and I have previously served as an elder and a deacon here for several years. I am grateful to have seen God use Park Springs to grow His kingdom, to have seen Him working in the lives of the people here, and I look forward to seeing Him continue to use us to bring the light of the Gospel to our community.
One of my favorite Bible passages is Philippians 3:3-11, which starts out like this:
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.
In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.
